I have a really shit memory. It doesn't help that I work on multiple things at once.

At uni I have my desks and laptop littered with lists, tables and notes so that I always know what I need to do. So why don't I do that for my art?
All too often I tell someone that I'm going to use their base, doll their character and make a doll inspired by something or other. But most of the time I forget.

Mourn those dolls. They would have been awesome.



...And if you were the person who drew a girl with orange and white hair and I told you that I really liked it, please let me know! I remember really really liking it but I can't remember the actual picture and I was too stupid to save it...

I've always hated August. This is the time where I desperately poke my brain until it farts out birthday present ideas for my mum and sister.

Now that my mum does glass art (), it's been much easier to find her presents. The only dilemmas is that I enjoy picking out pretty colours of glass so much that I end up spending more than I plan and I have to get the packages sent to my sister because my postie doesn't give a shit about packages.

My sister is so friggin hard. She's got no arty hobbies and she buys the things that she wants. I end up getting her earrings and cookbooks. While they are nice, it's pretty sucky that I get her the same thing every year. Particularly since she gives me such awesome presents.
I went to a craft show with mum and we picked out a cross stitch for her as part of a joint present. But I was so worried that she might not like it that ended up picking two so she could select which one she wanted.
I've also got another cookbook. In my defense, it discounted to $10 and on using bamboo steamers (I got her a bamboo steamer last year).
But that's still not enough, dammit. I tried bidding for some FF figurines on EBay but I had to go to demonstrating and lost the bid. Probably just as well since I don't have a PayPal account and mum's was empty (I love knowing her passwords).
My sister's birthday is next weekend. My final desperate attempt is to develop photos of her dog and put them in a nice album. But the damn dog has such reflective eyes, I've had to photoshop half of them. I hope they develop nicely because I seriously can't think of anything else to get her.

So, I was reading a doll blog and it got onto the topic of instead of people massively editing bases, it would be better if they make their own bases and contribute to the doll community. Now, I don’t agree with their comments on base editing but I got intrigued with their idea of doll community.

We all use the term "doll community" but what does it actually mean to us? Is it really an appropriate term to use? From the viewpoint of the blog (both author and comments from another), it seems to me that community implies contribution – making bases, tutorials etc. Seriously man, I have never thought of it like that.
I guess I've more thought of it as a dolling network.

So...in the grand scheme of things, am I really a contributor to the "community"?
Do I make bases? - not really.
Palettes? - bugger off, they’re mine.
Tutorials? - man, they’re so archaic and I really have no intention of updating. I don’t even enter or run contests anymore. Seriously, Glam!’s redoll event is the first doll activity that I’ve signed up for in years.
All I do is spam the off-topics and occasionally give CC (which another of the blog's authors doesn’t seem to like but no need to go into that). Am I drain on the "community"? The equivalent of a grumpy old lady?

Anyway, is there a mood smiley for bored? I can't seem to find one...
And can I change the date on this thing? Because it thinks it's early Thurs night but it's actually late Fri morning over here.
